Vehicle Collision in Tai’an, China, Results in 11 Deaths

At 7:27 AM Beijing time on September 3, 2024, a traffic accident occurred in Dongping County, Shandong Province.

A bus transporting students lost control at the intersection of Xuchang Road in Dongping County, causing casualties among parents and students on the roadside.

As of now, the accident has resulted in 11 deaths (6 parents and 5 students), 1 person in critical condition, and 12 people with stable vital signs.

The driver responsible for the accident has been detained by the police, and the cause of the accident is under investigation.

In recent years, China has seen numerous traffic accidents resulting in significant student casualties, most of which occur near schools. The concentration of students and parents at school gates during arrival and dismissal times leads to traffic congestion. In the event of a vehicle losing control or a driver intentionally crashing, it often results in a high number of casualties, particularly among students.
